STARTS PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY IN BUDAPEST

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: JULY 13, 1998, BUDAPEST, HUNGARY - Robert Lantos, Chairman and CEO, Alliance Communications Corporation announces the start of principal photography on The Taste of Sunshine, starring Academy Award nominated Ralph Fiennes (Schindler’s List, The English Patient). The Taste of Sunshine is written and directed by Academy Award winner Istvan Szabo (Mephisto, Colonel Redl, Hanussen). Lantos and Andras Hamori will produce. The Taste of Sunshine is shooting in and around the city of Budapest, Hungary and will travel to locations in Berlin and Vienna.
The Taste of Sunshine also stars, Jennifer Ehle (Paradise Road, Wilde, Backbeat), Rachel Weisz (Chain Reaction, Stealing Beauty), Molly Parker (Kissed, Walking the Dead), Academy Award winning William Hurt (Children of a Lesser God, Broadcast News), Academy Award nominated Rosemary Harris (Tom & Viv, Crossing Delancey), Miriam Margolyes (Romeo & Juliet, Cold Comfort Farm) and James Frain (An Awfully Big Adventure, Shadowlands).
Lantos said, "I had hoped to work with Istvan Szabo since the beginning of my producing career, and with Ralph Fiennes since I first saw him on screen. I am particularly delighted that we have all embarked together on a project which is close to my heart."
The Taste of Sunshine tells the gripping story of a family that rises from humble origins to positions of wealth and power, only to fall victim to the events which defined Europe over the past century. Spanning three generations, Fiennes will star in the three leading roles; Ignatz, the pragmatic jurist, his Olympic-athlete son, Adam, and his political grandson, Ivan. The powerful Hungarian writer/director Szabo, intertwines personal drama and love affairs against a backdrop of larger social forces to create a powerful metaphor for European history of the last century.
Rainer K” lmel, Danny Krausz and Lajos Ovari, are co-executive producers, and Jonathan Debin is executive producer. Alliance is handling world-wide sales and will self-distribute in the U.K. and Canada.
